2014 Headway scholarship competition

headway.jpgTo mark the ten year anniversary of the Headway Scholarship, it is going global! Four winners of this year's competition will win a place at the 2014 Summer Seminar in Oxford.

The Headway Scholarship was founded in 2004 by John and Liz Soars, authors of the famous 'Headway' series, to show their appreciation of all those students and teachers who were their inspiration and motivation. To mark the ten year anniversary, this year the scholarship is going global! Find out how to enter the competition and have the chance to be one of four teachers to win a place at the 2014 Summer Seminar in Oxford.

To enter the competition you can choose to:

  • write a presentation with script, notes or audio track
  • produce a short video
  • write a blog post or short story
  • make a podcast
  • create a photo montage with commentary

Cambridge announces ALTE Paris 2014 Scholarship

cambridge-english-logo.jpgCambridge English Language Assessment will fund a teacher or post-graduate student involved in English language education to attend a leading conference on multilingualism, which will be held in Paris next year.

The ALTE Paris 2014 Scholarship will fund the successful applicant to attend the ALTE 5th International Conference. Entrants must work or be studying in the fields of language learning, teaching and assessment, and will have never attended an ALTE International Conference before.

The scholarship will include registration for the two-day event, up to three nights' accommodation in Paris, travel costs, and an invitation to attend the conference drinks reception. To apply entrants must submit a short essay, of between 500–1000 words, on the subject of: 'How a good language test can support effective learning'.

Submissions will be judged on their originality, relevance to professional experience, and on their insight into language learning, teaching and assessment. Entrants must also provide a brief CV and a passport size photo with their essay.

Deadline for submissions – Monday 30 September 2013, and the winner will be announced in October 2013.
