Winners announced of the 2013 Everybody Up Global Sing-along

Everybody Up Global Sing-alongCongratulations to Ivy Kuo and Class P3 at Idear Asia School, Taiwan, winners of the 2013 Everybody Up Global Sing-along. Ivy Kuo has won a trip to Oxford University to attend the English Language Teachers' Summer Seminar 2014. The runners-up are listed below.

The annual competition is organized by Oxford University Press and is based around songs from its popular children's series "Everybody Up". One of the series' authors is regular ELT News contributor Patrick Jackson, who we asked for a comment this morning.

"The Global Singalong is probably the most exciting and ambitious promotion ever run by an ELT publisher," Patrick said. "It would never have been possible even a few years ago and shows the very best way in which technology meets creativity and connectivity. I can't imagine anything more positively motivating for young learners than watching other kids around the world singing the same songs as them. I would urge any teachers of children to show their students some of the nearly 200 entries from 2012 and 2013 that came in from all over their world. The six animated songs will remain on the website. Even though this year's competition is over it is not too late to get involved."

Ms Zara Ghavami from Simin Educational Association, Iran
Mr Bennett Tan from The Alpha Kindergarten, Vietnam
Ms Mary Connie Navallasca from Darunanukor School, Thailand

Second runner-up:
Ms Nonglak Aneknan from Watmethangkarawas School, Thailand

Watch videos of the sing-along performances on OUP's website.
