Macmillan award for new writers open for submissions

macmillan_award_for_writing.jpgFor the sixth year running, Macmillan Education and the British Council join forces to uncover new emerging talent in the world of ELT writing.

Who: Are you an aspiring writer? Do you have a teaching idea deserving to be published? This year we’re inviting submissions from aspiring ELT authors who may have chosen to self-publish or make their voices heard through different media such as blogs, eBooks or within their own institutions. The award is open to proposals big and small, from your original lesson plans, research or articles to ideas for fully-fledged products.

Why: The Macmillan Education Award for New Talent in Writing aims to recognize emerging talent and provides the opportunity for realizing ideas that will help English language learners and teachers achieve their potential.

When: The deadline for submissions is 22nd November 2013.

What: The winner will receive the award at the British Council ELTons ceremony held in London along with a £1,000 cash prize to spend as they wish and an opportunity to publish their work.

How: Complete an application form and submit it along with sample material to eltons@britishcouncil.org. The application form, along with full terms and conditions, is available at http://englishagenda.britishcouncil.org/eltons.

Read an interview with 2012 winner Teresa Ting to find out about her motivations and thoughts on winning the award.
