New ELT publishers group to support areas affected by the March 11 disaster

ELT publishers in Japan have formed a consortium to focus the efforts of the ELT community in Japan on supporting the areas affected by the March 11 disaster and helping to rebuild the educational infrastructure in the Tohoku region.

In a statement the organization noted that it will "...engage in support activities that help the schools and students that were impacted by this tragedy. A particular focus will be on those children who lost one or both parents in the disaster. The recovery process will be lengthy and ongoing contributions by the private sector are crucial to sustain the recovery process."

The group is comprised of the following publishers: Abax; Cambridge University Press; Cengage Learning; Macmillan Language House; McGraw Hill; MPI; Oxford University Press; Pearson.

A PDF of the full statement by the group can be downloaded here.

ELTNEWS.com and its sister site ELTBOOKS.com will be supporting the group's efforts in every way it can.
