DISCO starts selling Versant

Recruitment company DISCO has begun selling the Versant spoken English test from Pearson Education, targeting companies, schools and individuals.

According to Pearson, while most tests focus on reading, Versant judges how quickly the examinee understands spoken English. The test-taker responds verbally and can be understood by the system's speech recognition technology. The test takes only 15 minutes from the test start to the score confirmation, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Versant scores also show a correlation to TOEIC, TOEFL and CEFR.

Versant started in 1997 as PhonePass and was first sold in Japan by Thomson Learning.
