Sharp R&D adopts English as official language

sharp.gif Electronics maker Sharp plans to make English the official language of a research and development group from next April, the Sankei newspaper has reported. It will be the first time part of a major Japanese electronics company has adopted English as an official language, the newspaper said. The department, which is responsible for the Aquos LCD television, operates in Japan, the U.S. and the U.K.

The move follows similar announcements by online retailing giant Rakuten and clothes retailer Uniqlo.
