Greg Crawford, the author of the 'Fun Phonics Readers' series, will be writing a regular ELT News column on reading for children. More and more English teachers in Japan are recognizing the importance of teaching children to read and are searching for effective ways to achieve this that take into account the needs of Japanese children - such as usually only having lessons once a week and lack of familiarity with the alphabet. Greg plans to provide advice and ideas that will work well in this learning environment.
Greg has been teaching EFL in Japan for 10 years. He is the author of Fun Phonics Readers for Finding Out and Principal of Aire English School, based in Wakayama. Greg's professional interests include young learners, developing and promoting reading for children and phonics.
