Yokohama College of Commerce to lend iPhones to all students

iphone1.jpegThe Nikkei Shimbun reports that the Yokohama College of Commerce will lend iPhones for free to all students, faculty and employees next month. The school, which has about 1 ,600 students, will buy the devices from Softbank. This will be the first such move by a Japanese college.

The phones are to be used in classes, to take attendance and for other purposes. Course materials are to be distributed via the iPhones through Softbank's e-learning system. Students will be able to review lectures during their commute or at home.

The Yokohama College of Commerce is a private university in Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama. It was founded in 1966 and has three departments - The Faculty of Commerce, The Faculty of Trade and Tourism, and The Department of Management Information.
