Steven Thompson, a teacher at a public high school in Osaka, has been trying to increase awareness of the tragic killing of dolphins in Taiji Cove that was made famous in the Academy Award-winning documentary 'The Cove'. He first got permission from his school to show the documentary to the students, and is now organizing events to help get the message out to as many people as possible.

The first event, organized on behalf of the Whaleman Foundation, is a visit to Taiji Cove on Thursday and Frday this week. The Facebook announcement states: 'Please Join actress Hayden Panettiere for the first Taiji Cove Tour. See the infamous dolphin killing Cove and other sites. The event will be safe and peaceful. Negotiations are planned with the representatives of the dolphin hunters union. Transport is free. Your cost is hotel and food. Hotel rooms have been reserved. Space is limited. RSVP to Steven Thompson'

Next Sunday there will be a big event in Osaka. Everybody is welcome. The announcement on Facebook states: 'Please join US actress Hayden Panettiere at Tsurumi Ryokuchi Koen (Big Grassy Area) for a Dolphin Peace Picnic. We hope for 1500 people to come to take an aerial photo. Please wear BLUE or BLACK clothing. Bring food and drinks and Frisbees, etc. Rain or shine, news of a peaceful gathering for dolphins will make history in Osaka.'
