This year's Expos showed strong community support among English teachers

expologo2.gifThis year's ETJ Expos demonstrated the grass-roots strength of ETJ among English teachers around Japan. Attendance was higher than last year, and the time and effort put in by volunteers at all six Expos was very impressive. Publishers have been suffering in the recession and their support was down again this year, but this was more than made up for by presentations by local teachers and displays of materials develped by small companies and individual teachers.

Oxford University Press again provided steadfast support for the Expos by having large displays at all events and sponsoring numerous presenters including well-known authors such as Barbara Sakamoto, Setsuko Toyama and Grant Trew. Bridge Learning and David English House also provided extensive support for all six Expos.

Paul Nation, who was sponsored by Compass Publishing and David English House, gave hugely popular presentations at four of the Expos. The Expo volunteers will be very pleased to hear that he may be willing and able to support the Expos again next year.
