The first Spelling Bee in Japan

spellingbee1.jpg The Japan Times is soliciting applications from schools to participate in the first National Spelling Bee in Japan. The winner of the Spelling Bee contest in Japan will be able to enter the 2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C., USA. Round trip travel expenses and hotel accommodation expenses will be provided for the winner of the contest and one escort. ABC network will broadcast the 2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee held in Washington D.C.

Schools that are interested should send the following information by e-mail to the Japan Times by December 18th: Name of key spelling bee contact, e-mail address, phone number, school name, school address.

For enrollment and payment at spellingbee.com, it is necessary to follow the directions on the Scripps National Spelling Bee website and remit the $19 fee to the spelling coordinator no later than Dec. 18, 2009.
