Cancellations of job offers made to graduates at a record high

japa_flag.jpgAccording to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, a record number of this year's graduates have had their job offers cancelled. In fact this year's figures are already almost double the 1998 figure which was the previous highest. Most of the companies that cancelled job offers did so because of the deterioration in their financial situation or because of bankruptcies.

There has a been a lot of media attention focused on this issue and the government has decided to publish the names of companies that cancel ten or more job offers made to graduates. Companies that do cancel offers are also expected to fully explain their reasons and help the graduates find other jobs.
