The Japanese Language Proficiency Tests will be held twice a year

japa_flag.jpgThe Japan Foundation has announced that levels 1 and 2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test will be held twice a year - in July and December. Until now, the tests have been held just once a year and failure has meant waiting another whole year before getting another chance to pass a test.

The Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) which administers the tests in Japan have put a guide to the tests on their website. This gives the new dates of the tests, but does not yet include information on the cities where the tests will be held. The application period for the July tests is from March 27 to May 1.
