John Lowe interviews Paul Hullah of Meiji Gakuin University

paul_hullah.jpgIn the latest ELT News interview, John Lowe talks to Paul Hullah, Associate Professor of British Literature and Culture at Meiji Gakuin University. Paul has published several EFL textbooks, and has also written several volumes of poetry, short stories and literary criticism.

Paul argues against dumbing down in the EFL classroom. He says, 'We have to be wary of lowering the bar. If we raise the bar, keep standards high, students will raise their game accordingly; if we lower the bar, they’ll tend to start treading water and eventually lose interest, give up.'
