Universities not renewing teachers' contracts

There are more and more instances of university teachers around Japan not having their contracts renewed. This especially applies to teachers on three-year or five-year contracts who thought until recently there would be no problem with getting contract renewals

The most notorious recent example has been at Kyoto University where about 100 part-time staffers whose five-year contracts will expire this year are not having their contracts renewed.
