Pearson's 2008 growth exceeds expectations

According to the 'Bookseller', Pearson, whose brands include Longman, Penguin and Prentice Hall, expects to report earnings growth of about 20% in 2008. This exceeds analyst estimates.

Pearson chief executive, Marjorie Scardino, said, 'We are naturally cautious about the economic environment, but we take confidence from our performance in 2008. It provides evidence that our strategy for long-term, sustainable growth is working.'

Pearson is an international media company that has more than 30,000 employees in 60 countries. They are the world's largest book publisher.
