New MA in Japanese to English translation generates a lot of interest

The University of Sheffield School of East Asian Studies recently made a number of new specialist MAs in Japanese studies available by distance learning. There has been particular interest in the MA in Japanese to English translation. Kazumi Takata, who deals with enquiries and applications in Japan, said 'There have been a lot of enquiries about the new course, and applications are starting to come in'.

The university has been offering three courses by distance learning for some time, a six-month Japanese Language Course for beginners, an MA in Japanese Language and Society for those with intermediate level Japanese, and the MA in Advanced Japanese Studies. These have now been supplemented by specialist MAs.

All the courses start in April and October each year, and it is still possible to apply to start this April. Those who are interested should contact Kazumi Takata.
