English scores plunge in college entrance exams

The National Center for University Entrance Examinations announced yesterday that the average English scores on the nationwide 'Center Test' were well below last year's level. Over 93% of candidates took the English test, which is higher than for any other subject, but scores were disappointing. For example, the average listening score was 48.06% last year, but 37.22% this year.

The complete list of this year's scores was published by the Mainichi Shimbun and can be found here.
