Biggest Printing Ever for Harry Potter
Scholastic has announced that it has ordered a 12-million copy first printing for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which is scheduled to go on sale on July 21st. (March 20, 2007 )

David Nunan: World's Leading Textbook Author
david_nunan.gif The English language teaching textbooks series Go For It! authored by Anaheim University President Dr. David Nunan, has become the largest selling textbook series in the world with annual sales of the student book of over 50 million copies, and cumulative sales exceeding 180 million copies (plus around 90 million copies of supplementary materials). The series, published in cooperation between Thomson Learning and the People's Education Press (PEP), was selected and adapted as a basal textbook series for middle schools in China, and is being used as part of the curriculum reforms in 29 Chinese provinces. Thomson Learning currently has a 56% share of the Junior High School English language market in China. (March 08, 2007 )

eigoTown Launches Nikkei Weekly Podcast
NikkeiWeeklyInterview.jpg eigoTown.com and the Nihon Keizai Shinbun have cooperated to produce a new podcast series for learners of business English and for those interested in business in Japan. The show is called The Nikkei Weekly Interview. Each episode of the podcast includes the headlines from that week's newspaper, a discussion of items of interest and an exclusive interview with a leading foreign business person. The first episode features an interview with Skipp Orr, the outgoing president of Boeing Japan. Future interviewees will include Brian Nelson, president of ValueCommerce and Glen Fukushima, president of Airbus, amongst others. eigoTown has Web pages for each podcast which feature full transcripts, translations of key vocabulary and other information to aid learners. Interviews will be conducted by eigoTown.com president Russell Willis or broadcaster Peter Barakan.
