Details of New TOEIC Test Announced
It has been 25 years since the TOEIC test was introduced to create a
standard measurement for business English skills. Until now, the test has
consisted of two main sections, namely the listening and the writing
section. This has meant that some test takers scored well on the test but
still weren't able to communicate using spoken English in meetings and
elsewhere.
From December, the TOEIC test will feature a completely new section, making
it possible to benchmark communication skills as well. First details of the
new speaking and writing test were unveiled at a joint press conference held
by the Institute for International Business Communication (IIBC) and ETS on
July 19th.

The new test can be taken once in a month using online testing equipment at
designated testing centers. Test-takers will then have to demonstrate their
listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. The price for the entire
package will be JPY 9,975. Online practice tests will be offered to learners
prior to the new test launch.
