Popular Aoyama Book Center Closes Doors

Aoyama Book Center has closed all seven of its outlets in and around the Tokyo area. Parent company Kurita Shuppan Hanbai filed three companies in the group for bankruptcy on July 16. The stores were popular with young people and their eclectic range catered for customers with unique tastes. With its selection of foreign and art books and magazines, it also had many foreign customers, particularly at its flagship Roppongi (photo) and Hiroo stores in central Tokyo.
