Around the World Mini

ELT Game Around the World Mini

Around the World Mini is a new, exciting, easy-to-play game, which promotes international awareness for English students from junior high to adults. It can be played by four players or four teams, depending on class size. The object of the game is to travel around the world by answering questions correctly about various international topics. For example:

In which U.S. city is the Golden Gate Bridge located? (San Francisco)

Culture & Customs
What is the beverage that the British people drink throughout the day? (Tea)

People & Places
Who is the person who became famous for his work with computers? (Bill Gates)

What Hawaiian phrase means hello and goodbye? (Aloha)

Players navigate their travels through the spaces they land on. The first player to “travel around the world” by answering three questions in each of the four categories wins.

Around the World Mini consists of:

  • 1 die
  • 4 player pieces
  • 1 game board
  • 5 global scorecards
  • 25 world bank cards
  • 200 category cards (language, people & places, culture & customs, geography)
  • 15 gems
  • 48 score tokens

By playing the game in class, students not only get to read, speak, think and interact in English; they also learn useful facts and information about the world and become virtual international travelers.
