Pass the angel

I learned this Christmas game about 16 years ago, I think I found it in an OUP Christmas book, which I no longer have.

You need:
1. A board with a picture of a Christmas tree which has 25 glass balls, numbered 1-25, and an angel on top of the tree. Twelve glass balls come before the angel and 12 after, the other is on the angel.
2. A small counter for each child.
3. A dice.
4. Candies, chocolates or small presents for each player.

How to play.
First player throws the dice and moves forward the number shown. Second player does the same and so on. If you land on your opponents counter, then your opponent moves back to "start". If you land on the angel and someone lands on your counter, you are safe. Once you pass the angel and someone lands on your counter, then you move back only two places (the domino effect can
send someone back to "start"). Continue the game until you pass 25 and land on the presents (you don't have to throw an exact number), then you collect a present. This game is best played with around six players, if you have too many players the game never ends. If you have too few, each player can use two counters.
